3 Day Liwonde Safari Tour

Your Liwonde Safari tour begins by a transfer from either the capital Lilongwe or Blantyre the Malawi main commercial city. The journey to Liwonde national park can takes about 5 hours from Lilongwe and 3 and half from Blantyre the main commercial city of Malawi. Upon arriving at the park, you will be welcomed by the warm smiles of the lodge staff and the serene ambiance of nature. After settling into your lodge, which offered a perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm, we prepared for our first encounter with the wild.

Your first adventure in the Liwonde Safari tour is an evening river safari. As your boat glided through the calm waters of the Shire River, you will mesmerized by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. Hippos peeked out of the water while crocodiles basked on the riverbanks, unfazed by your presence.

The riverbanks teemed with life. You can observe elephants quenching their thirst and playful baboons scampering through the trees. The majestic fish eagle can also be spotted swooping down to catch its prey, showcasing the raw beauty of nature’s cycle.

As dusk fell and the stars began to twinkle, you will make your way back to the lodge, where a sumptuous dinner awaited you. The sounds of the African night acted as a lullaby, luring you into a peaceful sleep, excited for what the next day of your safari in Liwonde national park would bring.

The second day of your Liwonde safari start before sunrise, with the excitement of a morning game drive. As you venture into the park, the first rays of light revealed the landscape in all its glory. Your guide expertly navigated the terrain, sharing insights about the park’s ecosystem and its inhabitants.

Morning hours when temperature is low is the best time to spot .predators such as lion and leopard as they are still active. If luck you can spot them chasing and killing their prey.

After a refreshing Lunch you will embark again in an afternoon game drive which will provide you with further chance to explore the park and its wildlife. As sun goes down you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

The last day of your Liwonde safari tour begin with a final game drive. Each moment felt precious, as you desire to capture the memories of the past days. After 2 hours of game drive your guide will take you to the secluded part of the park, where you will enjoy picnic breakfast while watching the sun climb higher in the sky. It was a moment of reflection, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the African bush.

After the entertaining breakfast you will drive back to the lodge for packing and start the journey back to Lilongwe or Blantyre via Njovu Cultural Village. Here you can spend a short time glimpsing into the Malawian culture and tradition before proceed with the journey.
